Funny Watchtower Teaching

For decades the Watchtower taught that Jehovah closed the door to heaven in 1935. In other words, all those who became Jehovah's Witnesses after 1935 had an earthly hope and all those who were witnesses before 1935 had a heavenly hope.

Well, recently, it seems that Jehovah again opened the door to heaven. The Watchtower gave some sort of half-assessed explanation as to why the door opened again, but now if you are a witness and want to go to heaven, you can.

Each of us are responsible for opening our door to let Christ in.

Where is the revised teaching first mentioned. Can you provide me with the article. It is an interesting change to consider. I am having trouble looking for the new "light" on the matter.

When i joined the JWs in 1986, they insisted that the some of the generation of 1914, then ripe in years, would definitely live to see Armageddon.

As the century turned and nothing seemed to be happening, the Watchtower tried to distance itself from the above teaching and said that there could be another possible meaning to the word 'generation', as used by Jesus in his prophecy of the last days.

I left the organization in 2005, and it seems that since then, there have been more revisions parading under the banner of 'new light'.
